Robert Heckinger, 77, is a Vietnam War veteran and grandfather who started his college journey in 1969, after returning home from the draft. He always planned to finish college, but life got in the way. The U.S. Army veteran earned a degree nearly 55 years in the making, and rather than retiring, he plans to use his education to teach history.
